Bill Melton
For more than 30 years, Bill has been an entrepreneur building global technology companies. In the early 80’s, Bill founded VeriFone, the transaction automation company that has made credit authorization terminals ubiquitous on retail merchant counters throughout the U.S. In 1998, VeriFone was sold to HP for approximately $2.1 billion. Then, in the early 90’s, Bill joined as an early investor and as Director of the Board of America Online. Bill has also held positions as Chairman and CEO of Cybercash, a pioneer in e-commerce transaction systems, and, in 1994, he co-founded Transaction Network Services (NASDAQ: TNSI), a nationwide network dedicated to efficient transportation of financial transactions. TNSI was sold to PSINET in 1999 for approximately $750 million.
Bill currently serves on the Boards of Directors of several privately held technology companies. Bill holds a Master's degree in Asian Studies and Chinese philosophy.
H. H. Haight
Mr. Haight was a Founder and a Managing Director of both Argo Global and Advent International Corp. Argo is a $460 million family of funds focused on the Internet and wireless communications products and services. Advent International is one of the world's largest private equity investment firms with more than US $6 billion under management operating in 30 countries from 12 offices with more than 85 investment professionals.
Mr. Haight joined Advent in 1983. He was closely involved in the formation of, and was responsible for Advent's operations in the Pacific Rim. Later, Mr. Haight was also responsible for Advent's operations in Canada. At Advent, Mr. Haight was directly responsible for more than US $75 million of investments in 27 companies. Prior to joining Advent, Mr. Haight founded or acquired 11 companies in a number of fields (including forest and consumer products), many of which had operations in Asia, Latin America and Canada.
Mr. Haight is currently a director of OnMobile Inc.; SenseStream; RealVision Technology Limited; Chinatron; Neural Technologies Ltd.; Cerebrus Solutions Ltd.; Northstream AB; ArgNor and ProQuent Systems Corporations. He received a BS from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Vijay Khanna
As a General Partner at GIV, Vijay focuses on investment opportunities in the enterprise software and services sector. Vijay had initially joined GIV at its inception in 2000 and rejoined the firm as General Partner in 2007. Vijay is either a Director or works closely with the management teams of Maxager Technology, e4e, TraceGains, Knewco and Tarang.
Prior to rejoining GIV, Vijay served as Vice President of Corporate Development for SAP AG. At SAP, he identified and structured several new business development programs, minority investments, and strategic partnerships which resulted in explosive revenue growth for SAP. Vijay played an active role in launching SAP’s new mid-market solutions and in the formulation and implementation of SAP’s reseller program.
Prior to joining SAP, Vijay worked in the Corporate Development Group at Intelsat Corporation, the world’s largest commercial satellite communications services provider. At Intelsat, he structured the $1.2 billion asset purchase of Loral Satellites.
Vijay also worked at NewSpring Ventures where he focused on growth stage investments in the Internet Infrastructures and IT Services space. Before entering the venture capital industry, Vijay worked as an investment banker for Morgan Stanley and Wachovia Investment Banking.
Vijay holds an MBA in Operations Management and Private Equity from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Rochester.
Adam Jackson
Prior to joining GIV Venture Partners, Adam worked at the Telos/Xacta Corporation as the Assistant to the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer developing browser based security solutions for the US Government. Currently Adam focuses his efforts on investing in early stage web companies exhibiting high growth potential.
Adam is a graduate of Bentley College, having received a BS in Finance with a minor in Information Technology and Psychology. He serves as director on the board of WorkshopLive and Knewco Inc.
Christopher Legg
Chris has been working as a venture capitalist for the last five years. Previously he worked in investment banking for 10 years, most recently with Credit Suisse. He has had direct experience and involvement with 28 liquidity events (both acquisitions and IPOs) and has raised $240 million in private equity for a variety of high growth companies.
As an investor, Chris has been heavily involved with 10 portfolio companies from origination through to liquidity. He has a broad depth of experience having successfully financed a significant number of high growth companies. Prior to Boston, Chris worked in and gained exposure to the following geographies: Toronto, San Francisco, New York, London and Switzerland.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Commerce with High Distinction from Queen's University. Chris currently serves as director on the board of World Wide Packets, Firefly, Casero, WorkShopLive and uReach. He has also been directly involved with i-play, OnMobile, PhyFlex, Webraska, Nuera and Neural.
Michael Long
Mike joined GIV in 2001 as CFO, previously for many years he was CFO of Mid-Atlantic Venture Fund, a leading regional early-stage investment fund. During his 14-year venture capital career Mike has been involved with the formation of several private equity funds, as well as, several hundred portfolio transactions. In addition to his financial, accounting and administrative responsibilities Mike plays a key role in structuring and negotiating transactions, as well as, providing advisory services to portfolio companies.
Previously Mike was CFO of the founding management team of Interactive Clinical Technologies, Inc., a pharmaceutical services company. Mike began his career as a CPA and tax specialist with Peat Marwick Mitchell and holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Widener University.
Bill McHale
Bill McHale brings to GIV a wealth of operational experience as a result of running early stage software companies for 16 years. Bill was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of DSET Corp. from 1997-2002 and led the company in a successful IPO on NASDAQ in 1998. From 2002 though 2005 he was the CEO of Cerebrus Solutions in London, UK and was instrumental in selling the company in 2005.
He joined the venture capital community in 2006 and is actively helping CEO’s determine the proper strategies for profitable growth in their market segments.
In addition to his role as a venture partner, Bill is the CEO of Argo Gasification Technologies, a company formed by GIV and other investors to market a clean coal solution in the United States, China and India.
Bill graduated from the Villanova School of Business with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration and currently serves on the Boards of Ureach Technologies, Neural Technologies, Sylantro Systems and Argo Gasification Technologies.
Rajiv Salimath
Rajiv currently serves as President of GIV portfolio company Amperion. Prior to joining GIV and taking up a leadership role in Amperion, Rajiv was part of the core team of Musambi Corp. from 2000 to late 2002. Musambi was acquired in 2002 to form Symphoniq. After Musambi, Rajiv led the development of the key Web Applications Management Product Suite at Proactivenet, till he joined GIV. Rajiv founded Sales Front in 2005 and plays an advisory role currently.
Rajiv serves on the Board of the Melton Foundation, a non-profit organization having five member countries, which he won a fellowship for in his college days. He has grown through the ranks of the Foundation to hold several leadership positions and has been instrumental in setting the vision and structure for the Foundation.
Rajiv holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Bangalore University and is a National Scholar, Melton Fellow and an AMTI Math Scholar.
